In 2001, Plastic Princess was struggling to find a replacement for departed guitarist Pauly.  As the band slowly fell apart, Dickie wrote a song called "Generation Z," inspired by the film Velvet Goldmine.  It was a drastic change from PP's previous music, but he continued to write in this more pop-ish, sassy 70's glam style and tried to steer the band in a new direction.  When Plastic Princess called it quits Dickie already had several brand new songs and an endless flow of ideas.  It was obvious that this was the perfect opportunity to start something new.

Dickie began writing and recording furiously.  With the first 5 tracks of "Generation Z" already written (in fact, Plastic Princess performed a few of them at the band's final show), he churned out the other 6 in about a month.  The whole CD was recorded on a 16-track digital recorder in the makeshift studio on the sun porch of his apartment.

"Generation Z" is quite noticeably raw and Plastic Princess-like at times but marked a definite transition and maturation in writing style.
